Newsletter VALEMO #17

These last few months have taught us patience. It still seems to be in place for the weeks to come. However, the health context will not have overwhelmed our reactivity and our ability to adapt in order to remain mobilised at your side, continuously monitoring your renewable energy assets. Digitalisation of our tools, predictive maintenance work, intensification of our offshore activity, the teams have deployed multiple solutions to support you and optimise the potential of your installations. Our Engineering department is particularly competent to offer you expertise and high added value services to meet your specific needs. Over the last 10 years, 5GW of assets have been audited. Enough to start this new year well and continue our collaboration under the best auspices..

Best wishes for 2021!

Frederic Prevost – Executive Manager

HV Maintenance:
digitalisation of tools and process automation

In 2020, VALEMO managed the maintenance and high-voltage on-call for around one hundred delivery substations, and as many transformer substations for numerous customers.

As part of its continuous improvement approach, VALEMO has digitised its maintenance processes and works with the ERMEO tool. This tool has the advantage of optimising reporting times and improving the monitoring of installations.

// PREDICTIVE MAINTENANCE:
detection of overheating on a wind farm

The current maintenance strategy for wind farms is mainly periodic, based on a calendar of operations. However, between two operations, it is not possible to foresee the appearance of a major malfunction in the near future: these faults are therefore generally taken care of at the most critical moment, which generates heavy logistics costs and a consequent machine downtime.

VALEMO's engineering department has developed solutions with the ultimate aim of adopting a predictive maintenance strategy.

// MRE – OFFSHORE: Activities at sea are intensifying for VALEMO!

Some key figures for this year 2020 with more than 22 interventions on 8 offshore sites, for a total of almost 80 man-days at sea and a little more staff transfers to the installations, in addition to the long days of preparation and commissioning at the quayside.

These missions took place in 5 European countries, with the application of drastic hygiene rules due to the complicated sanitary context, which ensured the good health of all the personnel involved while maintaining our reactivity and the proper execution of these operations. A great performance for our teams, who are still developing their technical and marine skills in the field of marine renewable energy.

// MRE – OFFSHORE: VALEMO confirms its involvement alongside GE Renewable Energy in the development of Haliade 150

VALEMO, in partnership with UL, is contributing its expertise to GE Renewable Energy to support the construction of the wind turbines for the Saint-Nazaire wind farm, which will be the first offshore wind farm in France.

GE Renewable Energy has entrusted our teams with carrying out quality inspections on the 80 Haliade 150 6MW wind turbines currently being manufactured, to ensure proper execution of the project.
